Staff Spotlight: Philip Lowery

As a district, we are so grateful for the efforts of our maintenance department to ensure a comfortable environment for our students and staff. One member of the department who consistently goes above and beyond in his role is Philip Lowery, HVAC Technician. Philip is the recipient of the 2018-2019 Woodford Outstanding Service Award for the maintenance department.

In his role, Philip oversees the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units of each building. According to Sherman Green, Maintenance Technician, Philip is the best of the best when it comes to HVAC. Sherman also says, “Philip is a pleasure to work with. He does a lot of work that goes unnoticed, keeping students and staff comfortable in their buildings. The district is very lucky to have him.” Mr. Lowery’s sentiments about his job echo this sentiment. Philip says that the most rewarding aspect of his role is simply making people comfortable. He feels that his efforts are appreciated by students and staff alike.

Mr. Lowery enjoys working with students, teachers, and administrators on a daily basis. When he’s in buildings and classrooms, Philip notes that several children immediately recognize him, and he cherishes their big smiles and warm greetings. Furthermore, Philip works closely with the other technicians in the maintenance department; they are a very supportive team. He says, “I’ve never worked with a better group of guys than this. We all help each other, and we all get along well….you can cut up with everyone, too. It’s like family.” The camaraderie in the department as well as in the district has made Woodford County Public Schools feel like home for Philip.

In regards to receiving the WOSA, he says, "It made me feel great. Anytime you get an award like that, you don't expect it. Everyone in the district works hard; everyone deserves one. It was surprising...It does make you feel good to be appreciated." With his work ethic, selflessness, and positive attitude, Mr. Lowery certainly is a valued member of our team. Glen Burnett, Maintenance Supervisor, says the following about Philip, “He has been a great addition to the maintenance department. He does a great job, and he’s always willing to help others. Woodford County is blessed to have Philip.” We are grateful to have Philip in our school district!
